Self-identity is to know, understand and discover oneself. In order to know who we are, we need to ask ourselves, "Who are we?"
A definite way to define our self-identity is through public perception, interests, personality, preferences and attitude.
In this project, I have outlined the keypoints of my personality and produced an artwork that is significant to my self-identity.
The colour red often portrays confidence, boldness and optimism. The selection of the colour for most of the artwork makes it captivating and eye-catching. Similarly to my strong personality. Hence, the artwork's name.
The skirt of the waistbelt is created with red tulle, a material that is light and flowy. This texture represents a carnation that symbolises affection, care and playfulness.
Meanwhile, the transparent counterpart of the waistbelt represents my vulnerability to show my emotional sensitivity.
Lastly, the reason for selecting the waist as the part of my body is because it can really highlight the body proportions, and make it stand out just by putting emphasis on it.
